Episode 29 - Spirited Away

This week, we watch the highest rated Studio Ghibli movie on the top 250. This film broke records as well as opened the Western world to Japanese animation in a large way. This film hasn’t aged a day, with incredible animation and timeless fantasy storytelling. The amount of creativity that pours our of each frame has to be seen to be believed. Spirited Away (2001), directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

BONUS EPISODE - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Bonus Episode! This week, we watch the highest rated move we’ve watched so far. Currently sitting at the #13th best movie of all time, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a film that has already solidified itself into movie history as one of the most successful sequels of all time. Even more impressivly, it's the highest climbing film on the Top 250 since 2008’s The Dark Knight. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, and produced by Lord and Miller.

This week, we watch a feel good animated movie, because why not? This movie is not on the top 250 (it should be), but we need a break from the string of downer movies on the list, and taking a trip to the world Disney and its animators have created is something everyone should take time and enjoy. Moana (2016), directed by Ron Clements and John Musker.

BONUS EPISODE - Your Name.

This week, we watch the highest grossing anime movie of all time, surpassing the 2001 classic Spirited Away. A body-swap movie like you’ve never seen, describing too much of this movies plot would be giving away some of the fun twists along the way. We will say that this movie is beautiful and is worth watching for the animation alone. Your Name., directed by Makoto Shinkai.

Episode 92 - Toy Story

This week, we watch the first full length computer animated movie ever made. Woody And Buzz Lightyear have an epic adventure of tiny proportions in this landmark film that remains entertaining, and even though the technology since its release has improved leaps and bounds, those improvements wouldn’t have been possible without this classic. Toy Story (1995), directed by John Lasseter.
